Volunteer Ushers

Thank you for your interest in ushering at the Classic Theatre of Maryland.

Classic Theatre of Maryland is building a dedicated group of volunteer ushers. They perform some of the most integral jobs in the theatre on a show-by-show basis—greeting patrons, collecting tickets, directing patrons to their seats. We couldn’t do it without them. All ushers are entitled to a FREE SEAT to every show that they usher. Please note that these seats are given on a space-available basis. On the rare occasions that there are no available seats, all ushers are entitled to one complementary ticket to a performance of their choice for that same show. Ushers who work FIVE performances receive a pair of complimentary tickets to a performance of their choice.

THE USHER DRESS CODE:

Professional black and white. No jeans, tennis shoes or sandals.

Volunteers are assigned one of the following positions by the House Manager.

GREETER:

Greet patrons as they enter the building and help direct them to the Box Office, theatre, or concessions.

CONCESSIONS

Sell snacks and serve wine, beer and mixed drinks in the lobby bar (must be 21+ years old and complete a TIPS alcohol awareness course). This position requires cash handling and using debit/credit cards.

USHER

Take tickets and direct patrons to the correct area of the theatre to be seated.

COAT CHECK

Check coats, bags, and other items for patrons.
